LAURA: Ghanaians traditionally don’t use utensils when they eat. They rely on their hands. Which leads to an interesting situation, because their signature dishes are soups and stews. This results in a serious case of prune fingers.
ADAM: To get our hands dirty, we headed to Papaye, a well-regarded Ghanaian joint in the Bronx. At the restaurant, everyone orders from a front counter and then does a pre-meal hand wash at a communal sink in the corner. Because you don’t want that soup to taste like your last subway ride.
